Causal Analysis Cards help groups explore potential reasons or causes of current student learning problems and successes in their school or district.  The cards allow administrators and teachers to step back and have difficult, but important, conversations about the potential "elephants in the classroom." 

Each card contains a finding based a synthesis of the research and best practice about what works in each of three content areas (mathematics, English Language Arts/Literacy, science) and three achievement gap areas (English Language Learners, Low Socio-Economic/Poverty, Special Education). 

For example, one of the cards reads, "Teachers do not have the content knowledge necessary to teach mathematics."  Putting the topic on the table for discussion is a first step in better understanding, not only what might be contributing to student learning results, but also in developing ownership of the problem and its potential solution.

Each Causal Analysis Cards (CAC) packets contains 6 sets of 30-40 cards each, directions for using the cards, graphic organizers and a bibliography of selected resources reviewed and used for their development.
