Welcome!

Jennifer Unger, Director
Founded in 2004 and based in Grafton, Massachusetts, The GroupWorks, LLC is an educational consulting organization that helps groups build the capacity to engage in deep and meaningful dialogue -- dialogue that leads to different levels of thinking about some of the most critical problems district and schools faces.
Working with educational groups and stakeholders, we design and facilitate experiences that enable groups to use data effectively, ask the "right" questions, and make connections to current research and best practices. We provide structures and tools that allow groups to explore, not only the way they are thinking about their challenges, but also the way they are thinking about their potential solutions.
Jennifer Unger, the current Director, worked extensively with Nancy Love on the development of the Using Data process, training materials and The Data Coach's Guide to Improving Learning for All Students and with Diana Nunnaley on the development of the Using Data Online Course. Jennifer also has an extensive background in Adaptive Schools (Garmston and Wellman), Data Driven Dialogue (Wellman and Lipton), Authentic Task Approach (WestEd), and the Surveys of Enacted Curriculum (Council of Chief State School Officers). She also serves as a Senior Consultant and Facilitator for TERC's Using Data workshops and online courses.
Prior to becoming Director of the GroupWorks, Jennifer worked as a Professional Development Coordinator for the National Science Foundation's State Systemic Initiative (PALMS) and as a Strategic Planning Specialist for the Massachusetts Department of Education.
She is currently writing a book to assist educational leaders create foundations that support effective, efficient and safe use of data in their districts and schools.
